Hello,
What I'm trying to do is allow the users in a particular workgroup access to the shared folders on my 2003 server without them having to type in a username and password. I have looked through the local security configuration and security policy for a place to do this and so far I have not found anything. A particular piece of software requires access to this shared folder, and currently a user would have to access the shared folder via windows and enter a username and password before accessing the data with their software. Unfortunately this is too complicated for most of the people who will be using this software. If anyone has a solution, or knows where I can add the workgroup access to the shared folders without being prompted for username and password information I would greately appreciate your reply.

you'll have to supply usernames and passwords otherwise, it wouldnt really be a defined share with security. you arent on a domain?

If entering a username and password is too complicated for your users, then I would take away the computers and give them an etch-a-sketch and an abacus.

If it's a workgroup you would have to add the usernames on the server as well as on the clients, with the same username and password. That way the clients will be automatically logged in. If, however, you have lots of users, a domain would be a much better way to go.
