Hi, I just setup a print server within my building. we are only using xp desktops, my issue is that when users try to add a printer that I have setup on the print server they get a message that a policy is in effect which wont allow you to connect to the printer. when I connect to the printer however as an admin, the user can then connect to it with no issues. I did a search for the exact message that shows up. and basically microsoft said its a that its a registry key issue. The problem is that it is HKey current users. so I am at a loss as to how I should fix the registry key.

Does anyone have any ideas around this, or a possible fix?

Thanks for the help

isesoteric,

once you add the printer under the admin acount, after that you should be able to add it under the users account,or after a reboot.

Jana,
Thanks, I used to do that in the past. I was just hoping with the print server that people would be able to add the printers they need on their own, and save me a little leg work. Of course I am still saving myself some time but I would like to get that permissions issue straightened out so I can save myself a little more.

Thanks,
Isesoteric
