Odd situation...
Windows Server 2003 loaded on SATA drive set. A separate hard disk is attached to a SCSI controller. The O/S sees the controller and the hard disk is identified in Device manager. The drive does not appear in Disk Management. Any ideas??

I've utilized a couple of different terminators to be sure with the same result.
Event Viewer doesn't show anything "abnormal". I've tried a couple of drives (of different manufacturers) and when the drive is inserted, it looks at the drive, puts a noftifier that new hardware is installed and ready to use at which time it appears in device manager, but never disk manangement.

Have you gone into the scsi bios and initialized the drive?
Was this working at one time or is this new?

"drive is inserted" Hot swap?

In Disk Manager have you clicked on 'scan drives'?

I've actually performed a verify and format within the BIOS (I've tried two different SCSI controllers just to be sure it was common as well).

Yes, it is a hot swap bay assembly, but I had my suspicions, although I have used this same assembly before but with 2000 Server with no problems. I rescanned the drive once mounted and booted with it mounted as well.

Two shots in the dark.

Check ASPI.

Try booting with SATA disconnected.

I re-ran the setup utility (booting from O/S) cd and ran repair (as you said...a shot in the dark). It now sees the drive as expected....go figure. Thanks for the suggestions.

I wouldn't of thought of that one. Must of been a driver mismatch issue. Glad you posted back. I will add this one to my mental database. Thanks
