sbs2003 locks up

System locks up when attempting to read from cd, either from a Sony DVD-R/RW or a Plextor CD-R/RW. At boot time a message says a service didn't start. Event log shows a ntaspi32.sys didn't start. Info from MS link in event info doesn't help.

There used to be that problem in windowsNT. Seems like that should have been fixed by now. Might search for the same drive and WindowsNT for a solution. Or I might be way off on this guess.
