Hi all,
I'm creating a disaster recovery plan for my network and have been trying out System State and full backup/restore operation for a while. Backup runs smoothly but when it comes to Restore to try the system out, it just doesnt any user to log-in. I have tried only System State baskup restore as well, but it still doesnt work. IT takes forever to log in, i tried the service pack re-installation on top of the restored copy, but no luck.
AS i said, this is only a tryouts, and there is nothing emergency(I'm glad not) but i dont want to have a backup that isnt going to save me in the future, if something happens.
I think backup is important but restore is also more important. :)
any ideas? what else i can try?
Just using Backup util on W2k3
backing up to an externat drive,
using ASR,
Floppy Diskette and backup created recently.
Backing up to an external hdd, usb.thanks in advance guys...

The following link is with regard to Windows 2000, but I'm pretty sure the information will apply to 2003 as I doubt MS has made many, if any, changes to ntbackup. It's well worth a read to ensure you're creating backup sets properly: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;239892&Product=win2000
Hopefully this will help you.

The only thing sillier than not having backups is to have a backup set you've haven't tested thoroughly...
