Hello,
When a user logs on, the computer gets the roaming profile from the server - Fine
But some times the computer fails to get the roaming profile from the server (loss of conection, etc) and creates the user a new profile on that computer, then on log off the new profile replaces the orgrinal on the server, deleteing all the users profile settings, My qestions is there a way to stop this.
Any help,
Thanks

Very good question. I dont know the answer but I wonder
if you could help me?

How have you setup roaming profiles?

Ive created a shared folder on the servers desktop and
entered the path into the field in the users profile in AD.

When my users log off the profile doesnt copy over.

I think its a problem with the security on the shared
folder?

jedarlington, if your problem is with security (it sounds like it could) check that the user the folder is the owner (right click the folder>prop.>Security>Advanced>Owner and change the folders owner to that user. Chcek that that user has FULL CONTROL on that folder (R.C.>Prop.>Security>add the user to list of users/groups and select full control to that user and that there is NO deny against that user (ie; a group that user belongs to has deny) the do this again R.C.>Sharing>premisions

Also just to make sure set the group policy 'Do not check for ownership of roaming profiles' (Computer config. > Admin templates > User Profiles
(just incase one of these dose not work right the other should allow it to still work)

Another point during log on/off do you get any error boxs come up, they are normaly called 'User Enviroment' errors

hope this helps you

There is a way to force it to use the roaming one. Go into group policy and go to computer configuration > Administrative Templates > System > User Profiles > Wait for remote user profile. I've also enabled log users off when roaming profile fails. Hope that helps..!:)
