I am very new to Windows server. My school offers free licenses for a lot of Microsoft products and I had an extra computer lying around so I decided to turn it into a server. I am useing Server Enterprise 2003 with SP2 installed. I set it up as a DC and both my XP and Vista machines work great with Roaming profiles. The problem is that Vista is not compatible with XP so each user has two profiles "user" for xp and "user.v2" for Vista. Because of this my files are only available to that OS. I know i have to use Folder redirection, but i am not able to get this setup under vista. I have read the white sheets for this located at http://download.microsoft.com/downl... but I am not sure how to use gpmc.msc , I get stuck when it says right click and new group policy.
If anyone can help me with this then that would be great. Thanks

Log into the domain using the Vista machine with a domain user account that can edit your domain settings (like a domain admin). Open your MMC and then navigate to the desired OU (they look like little folders). There may already be a default domain group policy there at the top level, so you can just create a new one right underneath it (or if you're sure you're not going to screw things up, edit the default GPO). If you have more questions, try and be a little more specific on what you're having problems with...
