i have this book called MCSE guide to managing a microsoft windows server 2003 environment, enhanced but they're not explaining in detail how to configure a roaming profile. my question is what do you have to do on the server side and the domain workstation side. thank in advance.

You create a directory on the server called profile share it and assign it full share permissions as the default is read only. Go into AD find the desginated user and specify the UNC path for the profile (the directory that you just created called profile). When the user logs onto the domain there profile will be created in the directory on the server called "profile". Open up a GPO and ideally set restrictions on the "size" of the profile as that is very important. Profiles cannot be allowed to grow with no restriction as they will consume space on the server aswell as increase latency across the network as well as increasing the length of time it takes for the profile to load. If you require more detail on profiles consult Microsofts Technet.
