restarts after running cmd.exe

There seems to be a strange problem with my server. Whenevr i do Start--> Run, the server restarts, or if i do start--> Run and then type cmd.exe it restarts. Have scanned the complete server nothin to be found. It does the same thing in Safe Mode as well !!... But if i create a shortcut for the cmd.exe anywr andd run it, it works fine...and even if i run cmd.exe from C;\windows\system32 it restarts,,, Kindly help me out !!!!
