Hi Everyone
I have some difficulty setting up remote access for some reason. To start with I am not so knowledgable when it comes to remote access. The main concern being that my boss needs to be able to log in from home through his broadband connection and be able to access his email etc. The most important being his emails.
Obviously I got the SERVER with SBS 2003 preinstalled so I did not configure it by scratch. When I set it up further (joining clients etc., configuring exchange with POP3 Connecter) everyone got the 'Remote Access' email. However, the link they give to connect remote does not work...
It gives a link as being https://XYZ.co.uk/remote. The problem is that that link don't work. Also, actual domain name is XYZ.local and not XYZ.co.uk.
Anyone know of what I might be missing or not configuring right? I am already looking at Google sources as well but I'm not finding what I'm looking for.
Please bear in mind that we don't have a VPN 'enabled' router or anything. Just a normal Netgear DG834 Router. Could this be a problem? Also, the 'Connect To Small Business Server' connection that gets installed and created by default does not work either. It keeps timing out and giving me the error message -
A connection to the remote computer could not be established. You might need to change the network settings for this connection. For further assistance, click More Info or search Help and Support Center for this error number. (Error 720) For customized troubleshooting information for this connection, click Help. Many thanks in advance.

You can test is by clicking the "mydomain.com/remote" link from within the LAN. It should take you to the Remote Web Workplace screen on your SBS. If not, you should run the RWW setup in the Server Mgmnt console. Do a google search for RWW setup/install. You should find a lot of docs on it.

Hi simeon naranjit
Thanks for your post. The link works internally but for some reason it does not work externally (when I try it from home).
Do you know why this could be?
Do I need to register or discuss anything with my ISP?
Thanks
