When some of our users log on it says that they have not got a roaming profile. When I go into system, advanced tab, user profiles, settings, profiles stored on this computer and change type it does state that they have a roaming profile. Does anyone have any ideas please on this confusing matter.
Thanks
L Stillwell

Hello L. Stillwell,
I've had that problem in a Windows 2000 Server environment at the client computers.
When this happens, the user is able to log in to the network through a temporary profile that is deleted when the user logs off.
At this point, I was able to resolve it by going into the "\\servername\Users" folder and highlight/click on the folder for the user that is having the roaming profile problem. Next, right-click and select "Properties" , then "Security", then click on "Advanced..." button toward the bottom. Here you click on the "OWNER" tab and then select or highlight the name of the user ( It should appear in the list of owners that shows towards the middle of the small window.
Finally, check the check-box right bellow the owner names window and then click on the "OK button.
You might get a window telling you that this will replace ownership of all files found in any subfolders. It's ok because the ownership will be by the intended user ( the one that was having problems with the roaming profile ).
NOTE: Remember to login under the USER ACCOUNT that is having the Roaming Profile problem. He/She will be able to login but with a Temporary profile. Once in, do the above to correct your problem.Take Care.
