Comment:

After running a Windows 2003 server as a domain controller in a mixed Windows 2000 AD environment, I demoted the Windows 2003 server using DCPROMO. Following the required restart the unit blue-screened with a REGISTRY_ERROR 0x00000051.
There is nothing in the MSKB on the subject.
I have tried the Repair Console, to no avail.
Has anyone had a similar experience?

This error is caused by registry corruption. There are a few MS articles on this.
