Hello,
I have an dual processor Dell power edge with Windows NT server. I am thinking of buying a new server. The server mainly has a database and accounting applications and is in network with 5 workstations where the employee uses these applications.
My question is do I really need a dual processor server ? Or a single processor server is fine ? How about Xeon Processor ?
Also if I want to run these database and accounting application on windows 2003 server do I need terminal server license or i can make it run and use it on the workstations without the terminal server license.

with only 5 users dual processers is a waste of money. possibly even the xeon too, (but it's hard to buy a server now days without a xeon).
are the apps run from the server or from the workstations and just access the record data from the server? is the app heavy graphics or just text? how often do the users request and save data to and from the server?
in other words just what kind of data is being served? and where is the actual processing going on, the server or the workstations?
once you determine exactly what the server does and does not do, then you will know where to invest in processing and memory.
win2k03 server comes with a 5 client lic for term server, i see no need to buy more unless you plan to expand.

Well.. if you are just using it for user accounts (roaming profiles) then all you need is an old computer (less then 3 years prefer) but if it is for massive holding of programs like 40gigs of .exe's then your better off buying a new computer w/o a monitor then a server.
can use telnet or just hookup a monitor to install stuff on it
