i have 8 real ip block from my isp and I am using one of these for my win 2003 server .
I cant assign real/public ip to my pc (winxp) when am using Dialin to my server through analog modem . i have enabled
Routing/remote access + all routing options .

i've tryed to assign another public ip to the same server as the Dialin server interface . and i've set another public ip to my dialup pc , but it seems not a public ip .

am using lucent router + dsl modem for internet connection .

How can i register/assign Real/public IP to my PC (win xp) when using dial up PPP - MS CHAP V2

when you dial into your server you are NOT on the public side of the net and should not have a public ip.

your server will give you a private one and forward your net requests, (web sites, email, etc.) out through the public ip it has.

this is actually a GOOD thing as it protects you from virus and trojans, etc.

not sure the built in dial up server service in windows will let you use your own ip's.

you may have to go with a 3rd party dial up server software like isp's have, but they mostly run linux so,

not sure how, (IF) it can be done.

(and not sure why you would want to either, but none of my biz.)

If you dial in and the server supplies the IP via dhcp then couldn't it supply from the pool of IP's that you lease? (dunno)
