I am trying to add a new Windows server 2003 domain controller to an existing windows 2000 server domain.
I have run adprep on windows 2000 server to prepare the forest and domain for migration to server 2003.
When running DCPROMO on the windows 2003 server I get the following error message " Active Directory installation wizard cannot continue because the forest is not prepared or installing Windows Server 2003", it then goes on to tell how to use adprep to prepare the forest and domain.
I have put the server on the domain, and removed it from the domain and have gotten the same error each time. I have also tried to rerun the adprep on our 2k server and get the message that the forest and domain have been prepared and do not need to be rerun.
Any answers would be appreciated.
I didn't add this but the CPU is an AMD Optron 2350

Are you running W03K or W03K R2? If R2 you need to run adprep from the 2nd R2 cd not from a download/W03K cd.
Imagine the power of knowing how to internet search
