Percentage sign in windows

In windows 2000 server , home folder the path is \\server\Home Dirs\%username%
The % is new thingfor me.Plz guide me that instead of partcular user name why % "percentage" sign is used.
2-- In the user profile there is Member & Member of Tab .What is the difference in between them. Thanks in advance.

!) %username% would be the username of whoever is logged on. It's like a variable in windows (they are called environment variables).
2) When you go into the properties of a user, you get the "Member Of" tab, you can specify which groups that user belongs in. When you go into the properties of a group, you get the "Members" tab. In there, you can specify which users belong in that group.
