We have a notification in GP to remind users to reset their password in say...14 days. I have had a user ask me "Why does this message appear on anther PC I use is the netork and when I go back to my office and logon, it does not appear?" I was unable to answer her, I was under the impression that this messgae followed the user's logon? Please assist...

Have you confirmed this is actually happening? It should follow the user.

I'm with Ryan. I'd want to see it actually happening. My guess would be that the user logs into her workstation, then locks it, and goes to another computer where she gets the message.

Although I'm wondering why you're sending a message that the password will expire in 14 days. I'd say two at the most is reasonable.

Life's more painless for the brainless.

If you do not have the policy defined in your AD for "Wait for Network" (which is not enabled by default on XP machines), your users will not regularly recieve the password reminder prompts becuase they are logging in with cached credentials on machines they have previously logged on to.

On machines they have never logged on to before, they will get the pop-up because the XP box checks the domain policy before creating the user's profile.

Hence the 'not following the user' issue.

I always recommend making sure that this policy is enabled in the domain for all workstation logons, which ensures that users are not logging in with cached credentials (which inhibits the reminder popup from appearing).
It also ensures that when a user logs on they get the most up to date AD policy changes.

Hopefully the problem has been resolved, but if not, thought this might help.

PS you may want to look at our Password Reminder PRO software which is designed to pre-notify domain users of upcoming password expirations. Works fantastic.
