I was wondering if anyone know where i can find documentation on max packets for a file server. We have a server that puts through (when busy) 2300 packets a second and does over 12Mb/s. The IO write get up to almost 900Kb/s and 400Kb/s read at the same time.

Wow, I would think there would be too many variables involved to come up with one number or even a range.

Just off the top of my head here are some things that can make an impact...
-Packet size
-TCP/IP offload engine
-Packet encryption
-TCP/IP Stack
-Buffers

Are you thinking you may have a bottleneck?
