I am unable to connect to my windows 2003 server from another loation. from my local network it works jus fine. I also have all my ports open. is there some kind of extra security tha must be off?

What do you mean by another location? Do you have a firewall on your intranet or is the other location running a firewall? Is port 3389 open? How is your intranet configured? Do you use routable addresses or non routable addresses. Are you running NAT? Are you getting a error message?
