Offline Files Broken?

Been trying to setup Offline file sharing between several 2003 boxes. I find that after enabling Ofline File sharing as descriped in the Help files, I keep getting a message saying 'Unable to make test.doc available offline. Files of this type cannot be made available offline' From my understanding .doc files are one of the main files that you would want offline?
I just tried this again on two freshly loaded machines and I thought it worked, but on trying again it was failing again...
