I have one user in my domain who is unable to right-click anywhere on their desktop, or view anything except for network drives in "My Computer." This user has the same group memberships as everyone else who is in the same OU, yet no one else in that OU has these issues. As a side-note, this user is an admin on their local PC.

I thought this might be a problem with their local profile on their PC, however it happens on every PC they log into. (Not to mention that i've re-created their profile on their local PC).

Short of deleting their NT account, i'm out of ideas. Anyone have any thoughts on this? (I really rather not have to go through the hassle of backing up their Exchange mailbox, deleting, re-creating their account, etc...)

This only started happening yesterday afternoon, seemingly out of the blue.

Any ideas?

try using an NT user.dat from another working profile and overwriting their NT user.dat. That might work.

No go. The NT user.dat file was deleted when the profile was deleted. There are no "working" profiles because the user only logs on using one machine. Besides, the NT user.dat file was deleted when the profile was deleted.

Thanks for the feedback though, any other thoughts?

not really, I can only think that something is missing from active directory on their user account, like the logon script has not been set for that user.. But like you say you have already checked all that so I'm out of ideas really.

Problem solved!

It ended up being as a result of the person being moved to another department, which also made them a remote user (different group memberships, security settings, etc...). No one told us (IT) about the change. Gotta love being the last to know.

Thanks for the help.
