Comment:

I have installed a clean w2k3 r2 server and then installed the w2k3 driver som asus and nvidia site. The network cards are not reporting any errors or conflicts and is "working" as it want me to belive.

The probleme is that i cant access any other computer or networks from the server and vis versa and no internet. I cant get any ip form my isp dhcp, and same on static ip. I have googled for days now and i cant find anyone with the same problem.

I have used 2 different routers and direct connection. I have not setup any roles. Please help me with this.

Thx in advance

Does the server have more than one NIC? If you are using a router, is it set to do NAT?
Are there any other machines connected to the router that have internet access? Run ipconfig /all when the machine is connected to the router and post the results.

What does ipconfig show?

The server is connected to a router that is then connected to a fiber optic modem from my isp. The router gets public ip from is and the latop that is connected to the router gets local ip of 10.0.0.120. the ip of the router is 10.0.0.5 this is not a probleme with the router neither is it a network probleme. The only machine connected to the network that is not getting an ip or network connection is the server. It has 2 nic on motherboard nvidia nforce5 netwrok something. This is not a vpn probleme. Theres some config on the server that prevents it from getting an ip, if i set a manual ip i get the same result. it cant ping router neither other machines on the network. I have use 5 different drivers i think and the same result with all the drivers. I used to run windows server 2003 not the r2 edition that i switched to now. And that worked with no probleme at all. It is with the new release that the network is not working.

sorry for the late reply but i was on work until now.

Thx

Update: I know have installed an realtek rtl8139 10/100 network card and it works prefectly. It looks for me that it is the nvidia nforce cards or drivers that is not working in win2003 r2 i do not have that probleme in win2003 not r2 edition. Any help getting the nforce drivers to work in w2k3r2 will help alot. Need et least one 10/100/1000 nic to get this working. And i really dont want to buy a new one. And i hate nvidia network controller=P

Ok, then is it possible that drivers just don't exist for R2? I think you just have to stay with the Realtek card.

Yup, going to get a new card tomorrow, need 2 nics cause of network traffic localy. But thx for trying. I gave up on nforce driver. but i sent a mail to nvidia and if they come up with anything il post it here. Guess i have to wait a couple of days to get any answer other than update to the newes driver.

That's another thing. Avoid dual homed servers if possible unless you're really good with routing tables.
