Hello,

I have problems sharing my internet connection (adsl) through NAT. I have already used Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) but I heard it doesnt provide you with much options and security. So I switched to NAT and I cant make it work. (ICS is now disabled)

I configured, DHCP, DNS, setup an internal domain (as I dont have a public domain). They are working fine.

I try opening routing and remote access, install NAT/firewall, both public and private interface. I do not choose the option of DNS/DCHP allocator through NAT as I have already done through DHCP and DNS itself. Or am I doing something wrong here. I can use the internet on my server itself but cannot share it for some reason.

Help would be appreciated.

Background Info:
Small office network
Server: 1 x w2k3 - IP 192.168.0.1 (ADSL modem & LAN Card connected through a hub)
Is a default gateway as well.
clients: 2 x winxp - IP 192.168.0.2 & 3

I tried the same thing but couldn't get it to work. I think the issues lies with the modem, which is difficult to setup in these situtions, as most servers used as routers just have two ethernet interfaces. If I get it working I'll post how I did it.

how many network cards do you have installed on your server? is your adsl modem plugged into your computer or your hub? if its plugged into your hub, you can't route it (as far as i know or as far as i've sucessfully installed). i'm almost sure it has to be something like:
Client -> Hub -> eth1 ->RRAS -> eth0 -> adsl
where eth1 is your netcard for you lan and eth0 is your netcard for your adsl. If you have only one you should probably either get a router and forget about rras or just buy another netcard as they aren't usually over $20 for a nice one online.

I am using an internal ADSL modem.

Server machine has an adsl modem and an ethernet card. The ethernet card is connected to the hub, so too the other 2 client machines.

Do I have a physical limitation here?
