MYSQL error

I have setup mysql and when checked it says server is running. Trying to setup a program called mambo which needs mysql and it is that it is unavalible. Any things I could do to fix it?

I am more familiar with mysql on linux...but I have heard of similar problems on there, make sure that the mambo program is trying to access mysql through the correct mysql socket file, and the correct port etc.

Ah, my bad...it is more likely a problem with your web server not being able to access mysql, or mambo itself not being configured to connect to your database...not directly a mambo problem. Mambo recommends using Apache, whether using linux or windows. Just to make sure, after extracting the mambo files to your web root folder, or subfolder, did you make the needed changes to connect to the mambo database on your server and copy the configuration file to the recommended location?
