I am config'ing a new server with 3 nics. This server will act as DC, file server, and Term Server. I am statically assigning the IP's 192.168.100.89, 90, 91.
There is one internet router on this network: 192.168.100.1 is on the LAN, and 209.242.19.x on the WAN.
I would think I'd want the same IP address on all three nics 192.168.100.1 for the Default Gateway, but windows is giving me a warning message after I click OK on the second nic:
Warning - Multiple default gateways are intended to provide redundancy to a single network(such as an intranet or internet). They will not fumction properly when the gateways are on two separate, disjoint networks(such as one on your intranet and one on the internet). Do you want to save this configuration?
Is it safe to say Yes? Thanks!

Any uneducated guess would be to leave it blank and let 2003 load balance since you have all nic's and router at 192.168.100.xxx. Guess that assumes a lot too.

Multihomed windows systems are not recommended (by microsoft) to have multiple nics on the same subnet. "unexpected results can occur" I don't have the KB number handy, but it's in there. I had previously thought, like Jefro, that 2003 does load balancing when it sees multi-nics on the same segment. This is incorrect. It is the driver from the manufacturer (not msft's driver) that does the optional load balancing or fault tolerance. I went on Intel's site, downloaded the drivers, and installed. In the config screen, I selected Team, and config'd my 3 giga-nics as 1 monster nic. Very exciting stuff. My server now communicates with my swith at 3000 mbps. smokin.

Thanks PeteKokkinis.
This might explain a lot of other questions on similar problems. Bandwidth is $ on some setups.
