We had one of our domain servers crash last weekend, I had called Dell for support and they said the fastest resolve would be to rebuild if we had all our data on backup tape. We did have everything on backup so I rebuilt the server and was able to add it back as a DC and recreated my user shares. Everything has been working fine until yesterday. As I was with a user, I was explaining to him that we need to keep vital data on our user shares and not personal stuff to help with storage space. As we went to his user share folder, about half of the folders disappeared. Luckily I have a script for this user that saves everything to his C drive, but I decided to check on other folders and found that other folders/files were missing as well. My shared folder was missing folders/files and I know that I have not done anything to delete my data. I'm not sure what to make of this situation. Again, I run a nightly backup to a tape and also to an external HD. So I was able see all the folders/files that were missing. I don't even know where to begin, I had looked at the Event log files, but they show nothing. Any help or direction would be great.
