Please help, I cant figure out if this is a VMWare or Microsoft issue.
I have 2 servers running Windows 2003 on ESX2 with missing space on their virtual disks.
One of the servers has a 65GB virtual disk when you view the properties on the disk there is 800MB free but when you add up all the disk spaced used it only comes to 15GB so I am missing about 40GB
I have run chkdsk on the windows
details
62910463 KB total disk space.
61414992 KB in 160099 files.
78748 KB in 22303 indexes.
0 KB in bad sectors.
259507 KB in use by the system.
65536 KB occupied by the log file.
1157216 KB available on disk.4096 bytes in each allocation unit.
15727615 total allocation units on disk.
289304 allocation units available on disk. The vmdk files says that its 61440MB and is stored on a HP SAN
Any ideas anyone?Paul

According to chkdsk the space is used by files. You are viewing all hidden and system files, right? Cleared recycle bin? How big is your pagefile? Searched on all files and then sorted by size? Cleared temp files?Your biggest concern should be that you can't defrag the volume.
