We are running Small Business Server 2003. Recently, an employee left. The employee had the username "UserA" and an associated exchange mailbox. We want to delete the "UserA" account, but also want to move all the items in the employee's exchange mailbox (emails in inbox and sent items) to be contained within UserB's exchange mailbox. How do I merge the items from UserA into UserB's mailbox?

Finally got it to work with exmerge.exe. For some reason i had to temporarily give "Full Control" permissions to "Everyone" on userA and userB's mailboxes. No idea why as I was logged in as the Administrator and had "Full Control" myself.

Thats because by default the administrator account is denied send as rights on all mailboxes. This is a new security feature added in Windows 2003 over previous additions of Windows that allowed the administrator full control over all mailboxes. This allows for greater security in the event that the administrator account is compromised as windows will reset the access controls even if there modified manually.Of course when using apps like Exmerge the way around this is to create a seperate group and grant the permissions on that said group. That being said it would have been easier to just use outlook to merge the mailbox data and then remove the old account.
