Hi
I work in a facility with a Windows 2003 Server. We have close to 60 workstations all running XP and all are connected to our domain. Each User has between 3-6 network drives that are set to load on login. However we have about 5 or so individuals who loginto the domain, but dont have the drives connect, they get internet and connect to their domain network accounts but dont have their drives.
However whats confusing us is that if we restart and relogin we can get the drives back. So out of lets say 10 restarts the drives will only show up 4 out of those 10 times. So the drive mapping is very intermittent and is only happening to a selective few and its not always constant.

What could be causing this? We have been working on this for awhile now, and nothing we do seems to actually solve the issue, only temporarily stop it for about a day.

If theres anything that can be dones to solve this, i would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Eric

Are you running Dell switches? If you are, you may want to enable portfast on the switches. Try turning off the spanning tree protocol on the switches as well. As a last resort you can always try to reinstall your network drivers with the same or updated ones.

Actually no we arent running any dell switches, were actually using Hp procur switches, as well as cisco hubs in certain areas. Additionally, we have also try switching out a few network cards to see if they have any affect as well as checking and manipulating the network card settings, but the only result is that the frequency in which we connect increases slightly.

Thanks for your quick reply as well.

Are the drives mapped on the users' computers, or do you have batch files configured to run in the users' profiles?

what happens when from those accounts/workstations you manually map the drives in question? Works or do you get errors? If errors post them.
