I'm trying to join a few macs here to the domain, but when i go into the active directory, it asks for the forest and domain names. I put in the info and it says that they aren't fully qualified domain names. it is a local server and the DNS is chartwel.local, what do i need to do to make these macs work??

I don't think you can add in a mac as a domain user. You should be able to share folders if a few things happen though. Pretty sure you need unix support and you need to relax smb in security settings. ??
