Hi
I am just trying to learn winserver2003 so i have my computer and another computer. On the other computer i have windows server 2003 which is a domain controller.
now on my computer when i want to join the windows server 2003 it asks for username and password.
My question is do i have to use my windows server 2003 admin password or just make a username in active directory and join to the domain with that username i have created in active directory?

You need to create a user and then login with those credentials.

Yes, you simply put the Administrator user name and password in and it will eventually tell you "Welcome to the domain you must reboot". If it says something else tell us what it says.

Specifically that is the domain administrator and its password.
Easiest way is set all administrator passwords the same that only those in the need to know catagory know it. Logon to the workstation as admin and connect to the domain as admin.
Don't forget your workstations dns entry needs to point to the domain controller ip address.
Best of luck.
Update:
CurtR's answer kinda thru me for a loop. Funny how old knowledge doesn't get updated in the mental database. He is right according to this
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/243...From my NT days you had to be admin to join a workstation to a domain. Appears any authenciated user can add a workstation to the domain. Guess MS got tried of the feedback of users joining their home network and not being able to get back to the work domain. Worst of all, that has been my advice in these forums in the past. Nothing like having a nine year outdated concept.
Thanks CurtR for the update.
