My network has a Windows server 2003 with MS ISA.I am curious if it is possible to install MS Exchange and MS SQL on the this server? I don't think there will be any problem with this combination, except the server probably doesn't have enough power to handle these three applications simultaneous. Any advice/thought would be appreciated.

I think there are some technet issues and some unresolved bugs but it could be done. I think MS is offering a vmware image already built to test for some 180 or so days.

I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you goober.

What kind of bugs? can you give me links to these bug reports? thanks!

Ok, what if I just combine ISA and Exchange. Is this ok? If Exchange/SQL are too complicate to combine with ISA, how about I just install a simpler mail sever program for now? what program do you guys recommend?

from what I understand, ISA is a software firewall, Exchange is mostly used for the email service, and SQL is mostly used for managing database. These three are totally different applications, why will there be problems to put them together?

My company is a small one and I don't think we can afford another server T_T

Here's a hint:

ISA once installed blocks virtually all network traffic to and from itself by default. I'm guessing maybe that's not gonna work to well especially for Exchange, but SQL, too. What do you think?

And besides anyway, you shouldn't run unnecessary things on an ISA server anyway. Why risk the integrity of your ISA firewall for example from a hacker attacking you with a simple SQL injection attack?

When's the last time you've seen a PIX or any other firewall running a database or messaging application?

ISA servers should run ISA, and that's it. If you're gonna combine two, run SQL and Exchange on the same box.
