I have two WIndows 2003 AD server that are also perfroming as DNS server for my network. My question is under the TCP/I settings of both servers what do I put as the "preferred" and "alternate" DNS server? For example, If I have serverA and serverB acting as DNS servers for my AD network, do I give serverA the IP address of serverB for the "Preferred DNS server" and vice versa? I am not sure if the local host should be the address of the "Preferred DNS server" for both serverA and serverB, and the opposite server IP address as the "alternate"

I don't think it really matters. There are thousands of PCs using those address. May I ask why you have two servers? Are they both on the same subnet and preforming the same functions?

Yes they are on the same subnet perfroming the same functions. The reason I have two DNS servers if for redundnacy in the network. Both servers also perfrom as AD servers for my network.

I still don't think the DNS priority matters at all. I wouldn't change it.
