Hi,

I am really new to this and have just started with setting up my first server. It all appears to be ok but on client pc's it won't allow me to run outlook or IE7 it says I do not have permissions. In AD I have set myself as domain admin and basically have all the rights of administrator - I am missing something really simple

If i had to guess Id say it is IE Enhanced Security.

Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > Add/Remove Windows Components > and take the check mark off of IE Enhanced Security and see if that fixes your problem.

Also look up IE Enhanced Security on Google for more info.

Hi,

I have removed that and it still won't run IE7 or outlook from the client. I can run it if I don't log on to the domain

What is the exact error message you are getting as it will help to figure out what is causing your problem.

Windows cannot access the specified device path or file you may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item - when I log on the client as administrator it will access IE7 but not email. I have all the same access that the administrator has, have I somehow not replicated it properly?

"I have all the same access that the administrator has," Are you logging into the client with a Domain or Enterprise Admin account? And are those groups added to the Local Administrator Group?

For sovling of this problem. just use the deleage control and follow the screens and give the appropriate rights to your user id.
if it is not sovled ..revert back to me...

twc, that's not what I asked. Are you logging into the computer and authenticating with a Domain or Enterprise Admin account? Where is the pst file stored that you're attempting to access, and at what point do you receive the error?
