Hi all,
I have been entrusted with setting up a new Sun X2200 server, which i must say is a nice machine, but it did not come with a cd/dvd drive, and i have no access to a usb one. Is there any way I can install server 2003 with just a usb drive? i have the iso of the software?
Thanks for any help

Can I assume you mean usb flash drive when you say usb drive??
It can be done but since you ask....
To make each of our lives easier I'd suggest you purchase a usb cd/dvd rom.
What? Like $30 or so.
By the time you get the usb or other bootable media you'll be kookie like me.
"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10

Yes i do mean usb Flash drive, I understand that it would be easier to purchase a CD-drive but this is not practical where i live (very remote) so there is nowhere nearby to buy it from, could you point me in the right direction for a USB install?
Thanks

See the work HP did and how they make a usb bootable to restore their servers maybe.
They have a program to make almost every flash card bootable. Might try syslinux X: where x is the flash drive letter. Then format it under 2003 with system files. I forget the command to do that. The HP site I think has two programs one is much larger, think they both work.
