Hello, I have been put in charge on installing 2003 server on an old box that already has it installed, and my company wants me to have some experience with installing the os, but I've hit a snag, when I go to install the os on the Hard drive in setup is says it doesn't see any hd, but there set up in bios and I can load the old os just fine. It is the same for when I try to do a repair as well. Should I format the old drives and try installing them then? any help is appreciated. Thanks Chase

means you are not providing the driver for the drive controller during install. You hit f8 when you see it in the lower left corner during install and then you feed the system the driver via floppy diskette.

I would advise you get one of the MCSE server training kits. It will walk you thru lessons on installing and configuring. Company should be willing to pay for it since it is to their [and yours] benefit.

Imagine the power if you knew how to internet search

Thank you for your reply, just downloaded the driver for the raid and am starting the installation right now! I'm using the MS Action Pack. I will look into that kit it sounds like its right up my alley! Thank you!

In 2003, the drivers CANNOT be loaded from anything other than a floppy. That is changing in 2008, but you're stuck in 2003. The resolution is then to get a USB Floppy drive and use that. That SHOULD work.

As for where to get the drivers, go to the computer vendor's site or if necessary the disk controller vendor's site and lookup your device. Then download the drivers for 2003.
