Hey,

Im hoping someone can help. I have a server in shared colo, I have my own IP address, I have my own domain name. I ave changed the DNS settings of my domain name to point to my server's IP.

Now I have setup a site in IIS and if I use the IP address to view the site it works fine, if i then edit the IP address in IIS 'host header value' and change this to my domain - neither the domain or the IP work anymore to view the site... any ideas?

However I went on to play around with the internet guest account and now when I go to the IP address it asks me for a login and password... so now I have 2 problems!

Hope someone can help me with this - maybe theres someway of resetting all permissions? so that hopefully everything goes back to normal...

Hope someone can help - thanks

.

When you are viewing the site on the local machine, you use the LAN IP. When you are viewing the site from outside the LAN, the external IP or the domain name are used. As long as it works like that, all is well.
