I have a share Folder on the windows 2003 server & keep all my personal files in it. Over the LAN on the other side i have windows vista which is not a member of the Domain. For accessing my files i write in run as
\\192.168.1.1 and it open the windows where in i can see my share folder.

I want that in "My Computer" where i can see C,D and CD Rom dive i may map Z drive in it and instead to write the \\192.168.1.1 in run I may double click on the Z drive.

Please guide me that how can i map Z drive in my client computer.

thanks in advance.

Open my computer>>tools>>map network drive

Select drive z
Where it says folder, type in \\192.168.1.1 and click finish button. You'll probably get an error, so click the browse button. Navigate to 192.168.1.1 and select a folder on that computer you would like to map. click ok and then finish and it should have worked. Windows will not let you map the IP address, you have to map a folder
