I am guessing you need to join a computer to a domain. You do this under System and selecting the Computer Name tab. There is a change button that is labeled, "To rename this computer or change its domain or workgroup, click Change". Click that button then type the FQDN for the domain in the Domain box and hit ok. Then type the administrators login and password and reboot.

You need to make sure the workstations dns ip entry is that of the Active Directory DC containing the ms dns server not the gateway ip.

Make sure you have Forward Lookup Zone and Reverse Lookup Zone set correctly in the DNS server.
Use nslookup to check on that.
