thinking of upgrading and want to know....
in w2k3 server, how do i check out how many legitimate Client Access Licence our server (windows 2003) has? unfortunately our systems admin has quit!

as long as you have a windows server enterprise edition Installer, you can have as many as 30 access Licence.

thanks, but this is w2k3 server standard edition. so will the 30 user access license apply on this edition as well or fewer users?

There are many ways of buying Microsoft software and different vendor supplied bundles.
You would look at License Manager off the admin tools if I recall correctly.
Now if there are no entries you would go to your accounting department and pull the purchase order for the server.
Last but not least is call Microsoft licensing [if you don't have a vendor like CDW or Softchoice which will make the inquiry for you] and see what is registered with them.
