Help Setting up DNS using my ISP

I need help on how to set up DNS using my ISP's information. I have a router and im not to sure about how to set this server behind that router or if i should connect the server directly to the cable from the ISP and then to the router or vice versa

Goes modem->router->server
Wksts point to server as dns not internet
Server has its local zone which is the same subnet as all pcs/router lan ports. Server dns has the isp dns servers listed in the forwarders tab [not forward lookup zone]
