Comment:
I have windows ME and I just bought windows 2003 student and teacher edition. I says that I need a newer version of windows to upgrade. It says on the package that it is compatible with windows 2000, which I assumed was the same as ME. Someone told me to download SP4, so I downloaded that but it didn't work right because it said I didnt have access because I needed "ntdll.dll:strstr" ... can someone please help, you can email me at cmuamandapa@yahoo.com if that is better for you, otherwise I'll check back here. Thanks in adnvace!!! ~amanda

Windows 2000 is different from Windows ME. Windows 2000 is based on NT. ME is based on 9x. To run a 2003 upgrade, you would have to be running one of their Server products.
Hope that explains it a little.

to use office 2003 you need at least windows 2000 (windows NT operating system), windows ME is garbage! sp4 is windows 2000 service pack 4, not windows ME and you need windows 2000 installed to use it :)
my recommendation if you dont want to purchase the server OS is install a evaluation copy off of microsofts website and try it out for awhile
