I'm at wits end with this and I'm hoping somebody can help me. I've been all over google searching for an answer and I can't find one. I am trying to use group policy to do some testing. I'm starting out by simply creating a test OU, with only one user in that OU (that being me). I created the OU, and placed my account into it. I then created a GPO, and linked it to my OU. I added my account to the GPO, and gave it read and allow group policy rights. I removed authenticated users in security filtering, so only my ID shows there. The GPO I created is modifying user config only. The only changes I made to it are to run a login script, and to change the title bar on IE. For the life of me this thing will not run. If I run gpresult on my workstation when I log in, it does not even show the GPO trying to be applied..or denied. I have tried logging on to other workstations but I get the same result..nothing! The default domain policy runs, and that's it. I admit to being a complete newbie on this stuff, but I think I have covered all the bases. Is there something really obvious I am missing?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Hi
If any hindrance while applying GPO, it will be audited in Event viewer. with that u can come for solution. And try following option also,
In GPO ->Administrative templates->system->run Logon/logoff scripts visible.

Logoff/on scripts are run as User, not Administrator.
I hope it will help u out.

Did you immediately try it? If so, did you force a refresh of the policies using gpupdate?

Thanks for the response Tech Man. I did check the event viewers, and for whatever reason I'm not getting much info there at all. I checked both the workstation event viewer, and the event viewer on my domain controller. It's like the GPO isn't being seen at all..it's the damndest thing.

I did make the change you suggested. Didn't make a difference unfortunately.

I did immediately try it, and it didnt work. I just tried it again, and it's been more than two hours since I made the GPO. I did run gpupdate for the heck of it, but I'm still having no luck.

Try restoring the default permissions on the OU and policy. This we you can check whether the problem is related to permissions.

Good luck

Well I figured out the problem...and the problem was me (no shock there). I'll post the fix, so other newbies might learn from my mistake. I did not understand how to correctly place a user (or group) into an organizational unit. I was going into the delegation tab of the organizational unit, and adding the user there. Duh. You instead have to actually place the user or group into the container using Active Directory Users and Computers (if there is a way to do this through the Group Policy Management snap in please let me know). Once I moved my user account into the OU I created, everything worked like a charm.
