Greets all
I'm in the midst of an infuriating problem.
I have a network with two subnets: (A)172.16.63.0 and (B)172.16.64.0
I have a Windows Server 2003 machine with two NICs (172.16.63.13 & 172.16.64.254).
I have setup RRAS and routing on the server as well as setting up routing on a client machine (on subnet A).
If I ping both NICs on the server from the client PC I get a ping response from both.
However, if I ping another machine on subnet B I get "request timed out" responses.
"Tracert" shows that the routing on the client machine knows to look at the server and the fact that I can ping the server's subnet B NIC confirms this.
A few weeks ago I was experimenting with a VPN connection which worked but only allowed me access to the VPN server (i.e. I could remote desktop etc but not see the rest of the network)
Something is blocking the routing.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Do you have the default gateways properly set on the clients?
Clients on the 172.16.63.0 subnet should be pointed to 172.16.63.13, and stuff on 172.16.64.0 should be looking to 172.16.64.254 for a default gateway.

I never liked dual homed Windows machines but look at the route add command.
route /?
will give you the options.

I would assume you have no windows firwall or third party firewall software running on the workstations? Firewalls block ping.
'tis the season to be of good cheer. Wishing one and all happy times with family and friends.
