I am trying to setup a ghost server but cant find pxe boot. any ideas or recommendations that are better than pxe?

If the remote computers do not support pxe then the next choice used to be making a rom chip for a supported nic. (almost no one ever did that because who has a eeprom flasher?)
Go get a gpxe boot floppy or cd for your nic. Gpxe supports many more protocols that tftp. I think tcp/nfs/http/ftp and iscsi and more I think. In fact if you want to test it over the internet try netboot.me and load up tinycore.
I guess you could fool around with grub(2) if you want too.
