FTP access hiding files from LAN

CPU/Ram: Pentium 4 640 RAM

When I setup a user with FTP access to my site and then try to access the files through my LAN, they're hidden--I can only reach them through FTP. What's going on here?

If you want to access them from the lan then you need to share them and you need the correct permissions. FTP and shares are different.
