Hallo
I am very new to windows 2003 server. Propably the Problem i have is a really simple one, but i was flipping through several books and could not find anything useful.I have some users on my testnetwork and i want there personal files to be stored at the domain controller. so i set up a group policy in the OU the users are in. I choose folder redirect and then personal files. In properties i choose standard, so that every user has its own personile file folder. Then i type in the path. In my case it is: \\jupiter\home\.
From my imagination it should simply work now. But in fact, nothing has chanced at all. when I look at the properties of the users and then choose profile there is no path for the personal files insterted there.
Propably this problem is really basic, but i would be glad, if somebody of you could help me anyways.
Thanks in advantage

Profile paths are not related to folder redirection. If you specify a profile path in user properties, you are enabling roaming profiles for that user. For example, \\server\joe$ holds the profile for Joe. In that share there is everything you would expect to see in a normal user profile, including My Documents. If you want Joe's documents to be stored somewhere else, you can use folder redirection.
You can of course also do this for desktop and start menu aswell. When you set these, the corresponding folders in the user's profile are ignored.
