Im sort of a beginner when i comes to setting up a server... At the moment what i want to do is set up folder redirections, but its just to complicated for me at the moment. Ive done Roaming Profiles and that seems to work so far. But i havent set any group policies as its over my head. I dont even know what a forrest is!
Can someone please recommend what things i need to learn in order to do this? Im willing to put all the time i need into doing it. Ive found a book called Active Directory Cookbook. Should that do the trick?

Which O/S are you using.
SBS 2003/2008 has a link within the user page of the server management console. "Redirect users documents"
This will only change the path of the My Documents folder, but this may be all you need.
Remember, GPO's take time to apply to the client machines.

We redirect shell folders with desktop authority - our desktop management software.
This tool is much more flexible in applying settings than gpo or even group policy preferences. Desktop authority also helped us with getting rid of roaming profiles that caused a lot of issues for us. It offers a great alternative way with root mapping to user's home directory.
