Flash drives over RDP

I am having a problem with using flash drives with RDP redirect under windows 2003 server. When it first boots up everything is fine, but after a few days or some other trigger I haven't found yet. It will no longer work and I will have to reboot the server. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening?

I don't see a setting for that anywhere. So if it is I don't know where to find it or how to change it.

device manager/usb root hub/properties/power management tab. Uncheck "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"
You do understand usb drives are transfer media not storage media?

It's not that it is attached over a period of time it's that I have 45 thin clients with user that at any point in time can put in a flash drive. So when it goes down and I have to reboot the server it's very annoying. Also there is no checkbox or setting to change it what you are talking about.

The first place I looked was the error logs. There are no error logs there, and I have checked that it is supposed to report errors for the USB drives. I'm not sure what you mean by trying other things with these drives. I have looked for settings in MMC.

From you post it appears you had the usb drive on the server not thin clients.
Configuration would be at the thin clients. What are you using for TC?

It's not a configuration problem at the Thin Clients. They start out working fine. It's like the redirect for RDP stops working for USB. I am using HP Thin Connect and have gone over this with HP with no success. So I think it has to do with Windows 2003 server.

Might want to drop out of the thin client session and see if the usb is still live/usable at the user/thin client level.
Otherwise this sounds like a issue for MS Tech support to address.
