Hi,
I have problem accessing some websites from Windows XP clients which are connected to a Windows Server 2003, which acts as Internet Server. It has got a broadband internet connected to a Ethernet Card.. This broadband connection has been shared into the other network using ICS. The problem is that i can access all the webpages on the server... but some site don't load on the clients. I have tried TURNING OFF THE FIREWALL ON SERVER.. But still the problem is there.. Can anyone help me around this.. Sites like devx.com, vbcity.com, crystalbook.com, windowssecurity.com do not load.. Before i turned off the firewall, microsoft.com also didnt load. I tried setting security levels to low too..any other option to turn off or change????Please help..

What error message is shown, when trying to browse devx.com, vbcity.com ... etc.?

Is there a timeout?

What happens when trying a traceroute to e.g. vbcity.com.
The IP-Address of vbcity.com should be 204.9.74.170.
Otherwise check your system for Viruses, Trojans and Spyware.

I get a 'Page Cannot be Displayed' error. I can browse those webpages on the server. The thing that i can see is that its a kinda blocking from the server side.. Coz when i set the security to low,, i could load the microsoft.com website.

OK, microsoft.com is something special.
If you use microsoft.com for updating your windows pc, it's a good idea, to add the microsoft.com to the trusted sites list in IE, because of the always specially used ActiveX Controls.
But what's about the other domains you've listed?

I get the same error for almost all domains..I driving me mad... Its some kinda firewall.. coz i tried setting up a Windows 2000 Server.. n it had no problem. It seems IE is blockin those sites with scripts and stuff.. especially those with Non-microsoft scripting technologies.. n i really hate microsoft for this (honestly).

Using IE is almost a risk.
I only use IE for updating my Windows every month.
All other times, my personal firewall deny starting IE and also deny IE from communication with the internet.

Firefox with some add-ons like Permit Cookies, NoScript and Adblock is my first browser.

IE Enhanced Security sounds like your problem to me. It's blocking scripts and all that other stuff to protect the server.

Did you attempt to remove it or could you not figure it out? To remove it you have to go to Add/Remove Windows Components - and remove the IE Enhanced Security if thats what you want to do.

Well you can try adding those sites to the Trusted Sites in the Security tab in Internet options and keep IE Enhanced Security turned off.
